A WARM VALENTINE
This weekend, WARM Radio, via the True Oldies Channel is playing nothing but love songs in tribute to Valentine's Day. WARM Radio had an array of Valentine's Day promotions going on through the years. They gave away candies from Gertrude Hawk and Michael Mootz Candies as well as flowers from McCarthy Floral in Wilkes Barre and Remick Floral in Scranton. A big promotion in the 60s was dinner for two, courtesy of the Mighty 590 at Aldino's Restauraunt in Wilkes Barre. Mega prizes also included a weekend at Mount Airey Lodge in the Poconos as well as Ceasar's resort. Those two hotels had the heart shaped tubs and the champagne glass baths. WARM usually started the promotions around Feb. 1rst, giving away candy and flowers before awarding the grand prize a few days before the 14th.
